Australian Dressage Championships

The Colonial National Trust listed property Hagley House, situated in northern Tasmania's beautiful English like countryside was an attractive stage for the elegant proceedings for the Toyota Australian Dressage championships last November. Mary Hanna and Mosaic II, on their first 'post Atlanta' outing, produced their trademark accurate and correct work to take the Intermediate II and Grand Prix Championships. Mary continued her winning ways with exciting new prospect Londoner being declared Intermediate I Champion.

Elizabeth Owens from Victoria demonstrated impressive improvement with the very handsome eight year old Trakehner stallion Legal Tender (by Konigsberg) to take the Prix St George title.

The 'local heroes' were Judy Peel from Westbury in Tasmania and her five year old gelding by Solo II, Birribi Sprout. An Experienced rider and judge, Judy claimed the Novice and Elementary Championships on the young gelding.

Although there was a degree of controversy surrounding the Championships being held in Tasmania (transport across Bass Straight kept a few 'names' away), all champions were worthy recipients of their Australian titles.
